R&D Blood Group Diagnostics

We develop new tests for blood group alleles and screen our donors for diverse blood group antigens. We cover the ethnic diversity of Switzerland to provide better care for patients with rare haematological diseases such as sickle cell anaemia.

Unclear serological results for a blood group antigen are further investigated to find the underlying cause. We use standard molecular biology methods such as PCR and sequencing (DNA and cDNA) as well as state-of-the-art methods like digital PCR. In-house expertise in both pheno- and genotyping ensures efficient analyses to achieve better care for patients.
